N301B Abrasive Wheels Awareness Practical Cutting / Grinding Novice

Course Objectives:

It is envisaged that at the end of this course the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry & their responsibilities as an Operator
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturers handbook & be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation
  • Be able to locate & identify the major components of the machine & explain their functions
  • Be able to locate & identify key controls & explain their functions
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
  • Identify & maintain PPE appropriate for a petrol driven cut off saw
  • Select suitable type of abrasive wheel and battery / petrol cut off saw relative to the work being undertaken
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area & set up a safety zone
  • Prepare the machine for use & operate machinery safely & efficiently
  • Environmental considerations
  • Carry out all end of shift & shut down procedures

On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years, after which a refresher course can be undertaken.
