Course Objectives

The City & Guilds 2923-34 Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Small Electrical Energy Storage Systems is a specialist qualification tailored for qualified electricians who wish to expand their expertise into the field of energy storage. This course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely design, install, test, and commission electrical energy storage systems (EESS), typically in domestic or small commercial settings. It covers key topics such as battery technologies, system architecture, statutory regulations, and integration with renewable energy sources.

The qualification supports compliance with the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, which outlines best practices for the safe and effective deployment of storage technologies, including system design, installation, and maintenance. It also aligns with BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations), commonly known as the IET Wiring Regulations, ensuring that all work meets the national standard for electrical safety in the UK.

While this course can be taken as a standalone qualification, we strongly recommend that learners complete the City & Guilds Solar PV course beforehand, as it provides a solid foundation for understanding how energy storage integrates with renewable generation systems.
