Course Objectives

Delivered on weekdays in an intensive format, the programme enables you to complete the qualification efficiently—supporting your next steps into further electrical training or progression into employment, where you can continue working towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.

This intensive format is ideal for learners who want to fast-track their progress, gain essential skills, and unlock opportunities for further training or employment as a trainee electrician.

Entry Requirements

If you’re completely new to electrical work, we strongly recommend starting with our Fundamental Electrical Installation Course. It covers essential domestic wiring skills, fundamental installation theory, and basic inspection and testing. Successful learners also achieve the City & Guilds 2392 qualification.
This gives you the confidence and grounding to progress smoothly onto your Level 2 Diploma.

Aspiring electricians
If you’re working towards becoming a qualified electrician, this Diploma is the first formal step in your training journey—ideal once you’ve built the essential foundations through introductory learning.

Career changers and diversifiers
This qualification is also a great introduction for those looking to move into related sectors such as electrical engineering, electrical design, or building services.

The duration of the course is 22 days of in centre training, and self paced elearning.

    This Level 2 Diploma provides a solid foundation in electrical installation, combining practical skills with essential theory. You’ll cover five key units that prepare you for further training or entry-level roles in the industry:

    • 201 – Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering
      Learn how to work safely and responsibly in electrical environments. This unit covers legislation, risk assessments, and safe working practices—critical knowledge for any site-based role.
    • 202 – Principles of Electrical Science
      Understand the electrical principles that underpin modern installations, including voltage, current, resistance, and power. This unit builds your technical understanding and prepares you for more advanced study.
    • 203 – Electrical Installations Technology
      Explore the materials, components, and systems used in electrical installations. You’ll learn how different technologies are applied in domestic, commercial, and industrial settings.
    • 204 – Installation of Wiring Systems and Enclosures
      Get hands-on experience installing wiring systems using industry-standard tools and techniques. This practical unit helps you develop the skills needed to work safely and efficiently on-site.
    • 210 – Communication within Building Services Engineering
      Develop the communication skills needed to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and other trades. This unit focuses on teamwork, reporting, and professional conduct in the workplace.
